TotalFX

Active FX + Deep FX = Total FX

The Total FX laser is the gold standard in CO2 laser skin tightening and resurfacing systems. The beauty of this device is that it combines two distinct lasers in one procedure, offering not only wrinkle reduction through skin resurfacing, but also skin tightening through the induction of collagen formation.

Active FX treats surface pigmentation and skin roughness. Deep FX treats wrinkles, skin roughness and also tightens. Total FX is a combination of both Active FX and Deep FX and provides the most complete results with fractional CO2 laser treatments.

What can we target with Total FX?

  • Fine lines and wrinkles of facial skin
  • Improve crow’s feet around the eyes and “pucker lines” around the mouth
  • Remove brown spots and splotchy, uneven skin color
  • Improve and flatten scars-including acne and burn scars
  • Improve overall skin tone and texture
  • Improve the appearance of stretch marks

Is Total FX right for you?

TotalFX is an ideal treatment option if you:

  • want to treat dyschromia, fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, or acne scars
  • want noticeable results with minimal downtime

What is the actual Total FX procedure like?

Before the procedure, a topical numbing cream is applied for about 30 minutes, and most patients are given oral medication to relax them to make the procedure as pleasant as possible. It is recommended that patients have someone pick them up after the procedure if they plan to drive. The procedure is very mildly uncomfortable for some patients, but most patients don’t find it unpleasant at all. After the treatment, the sensation is that of having a bad sunburn for 2-4 hours, as the face is quite red. Cool compresses alleviate this, and there is no discomfort afterward, other than some tightness in the skin over the next few days.

Occasionally the undereye area will be somewhat swollen if that area is treated, but it subsides quickly. Although occasionally some patients have a bit of swelling over the next few days, very few patients report notable discomfort and no pain medications are needed. Over 5-7 days, the specks of pigment that appear will slough off, revealing clear, fresh skin underneath.

How long is the Total FX procedure?

The treatment time is approximately 30 minutes, though the total time will vary depending on the areas treated.

What is the aftercare for Total FX?

Patients are provided with a skin care regimen to follow for the days after their treatment and as the skin heals, there will be a noticeable improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, tone, and texture. The skin should be completely healed within one week. The patient can start to use sunscreens within 4 days and make-up one week after the procedure.

What are the Total FX Results?

You see immediate results in the lightening of pigmentation, but the tightening, softening of lines, and scar improvement takes several months. The results of Total FX should last for years, with continued maintenance of a good skin care regimen and sun avoidance.
