ACTIVEFX + DEEPFX = TOTALFX
These two FX lasers by Lumenis are the new gold standard in CO2 laser skin tightening and resurfacing systems. They both offer wrinkle reduction as the skin resurfacing technique induces collagen formation and tightening of the skin. ActiveFX treats surface pigmentation and skin roughness. DeepFX treats wrinkles, skin roughness and also tightens. TotalFX is a combination of both ActiveFX and DeepFX and provides the most complete possibilities of fractional CO2 laser treatments. The purpose is to smooth out fine lines, wrinkles and scars, remove brown spots and other skin irregularities that occur with aging and sun exposure.

What is the actual Total Fx procedure like?
Before the procedure a topical numbing cream is applied and oral medications are given in order to make the patient relaxed during the procedure. It is recommended that patients have someone pick them up after the procedure if they plan to drive. The procedure is mildly uncomfortable for some patients, but it is very short-lived. After the laser treatment, the patient feels as if they have a bad sunburn for 2-4 hours, as the face is quite red. Cool compresses alleviate this sensation, and there is no discomfort afterward, other than some tightness in the skin over the next few days. Occasionally the undereye area will be swollen, but that subsides quickly. Although there may be some swelling over the next few days, very few patients report notable discomfort and no pain medications are needed.
How long is the Total FX procedure?
The treatment time is approximately 45 minutes, though total time will vary depending on the areas treated.
What is the aftercare for TotalFX?
Patients are provided with a skin care regimen to follow for the days after their treatment and as the skin heals, they will begin to notice an improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, tone and texture. The skin should be completely healed within one week. The patient can start to use sunscreens within 4 days and make-up one week after the procedure.
What are the TotalFX Results?
You see immediate results in lightening of pigmentation, but the tightening, softening of lines, and scar improvement take several months. The results of Total FX should last for years, with continued maintenance of a good skin care regimen and sun avoidance.
