What is Active FX?

Active FX is a high-energy beam laser treatment applied in a fractionated pattern, like pixels in a photograph, leaving “bridges” of untouched skin. This technique leads to faster healing and enables you to return to normal activities very quickly.

What can you expect following Active FX?

For several hours following your Active FX treatment, you may feel warmth in your face similar to a sunburn. There will be redness, but virtually no discomfort, for a few hours. After the procedure, a gentle cleansing regimen with light moisturizers is prescribed, and the treated skin will develop tiny brown dots which slough off over a 5-7 day period. After about four days you will be able to resume use of sunblock and makeup. Most patients are entirely back to normal after a week at most. And the results speak for themselves! Some of the effects are seen immediately after the first week, while others, such as skin tightening, may take months to develop. No matter what, adequate sun protection is a crucial element to maintain beautiful results.

Do I have to do anything to prepare for Active FX treatment?

Depending on the degree of sun damage, some patients will need to use a combination of Retin A and a bleaching agent to make the skin more responsive to the laser beam. This regimen is often continued after the procedure as a means of maintaining the beautiful glow your skin will have.
